Dan Higgs, MBACP (Accred), Dip Couns, BSc (Hons) - Integrative Counsellor
I specialise in supporting adults and young people aged 10-18 who are struggling with low mood, poor self-esteem, identity issues, friendships, anxiety, panic attacks, parental separation, grief, self-harming or suicidal thoughts. The aim is to understand and explore what is troubling them, to find their voice and to improve their mood and their relationships.
I gained my post-graduate qualification as a counsellor and 2021 and qualified as a counsellor dealing with young persons (10-18) in 2022. I have worked as a counsellor in a young people's counselling service, a trauma-focused charity and I also have my private practice working with children, young people and adults.
I offer a safe and relaxing environment for clients to explore whatever issues they may have. Each person’s experience of therapy is personal, and I like to provide a down-to-earth, forward-thinking and solution-focused environment where I recognise that it is the relationship between the client and counsellor that is of the utmost importance.
As an integrative counsellor, I am influenced by various approaches that inform my work. This means that I recognise that all clients have unique life experiences, and that one approach does not fit all. I draw on different theoretical approaches that influence how I work with you, depending on your needs.
In particular, I recognise that it can be helpful to look at past experiences to understand current difficulties in relationships. I am a thoroughly modern counsellor and am dedicated to providing counselling in a straightforward, non-judgmental and relaxed setting.
I'm an Accredited Member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and am bound by their code of ethics. I am also a member of the Association for Counselling and Therapy Online
