Maeve Begley
BACP registered Integrative Child and Adolescent Counsellor
I am a BACP registered Integrative Child and Adolescent Counsellor, specialising in working with children and young people aged 4 to 18. Additionally, I am a therapeutic parenting practitioner with over 16 years of experience supporting children and families, including those with neurodiversity and school-related anxiety.
My approach involves helping children and young people express strong and difficult feelings in a safe and supported manner. I utilise various artistic mediums such as clay, paint, puppets, sand tray, stories, poetry, and music to help clients make sense of their experiences.
As a therapeutic parenting practitioner, I collaborate with parents and carers who may be feeling frustrated or stuck in family life, finding relationships challenging, or dealing with challenging child behaviour. I firmly believe that families can discover their own solutions given time to think and talk in a safe and containing space. My parenting work is based on Theraplay® principles, and I am trained in Video Interaction Guidance (VIG), which I offer as part of my broader parenting practice. I am also a Non Violent Resistance (NVR) practitioner, assisting parents and carers dealing with child-to-parent violence and aggression, addressing safety concerns within the home.
I am available on Tuesdays from 4 pm at the Teddington Wellbeing Centre and work in several primary schools in West London.
