Fleur Harris

BACP registered Integrative child psychotherapist

I am a BACP registered Integrative child psychotherapist supporting children and adolescents with 1-1 sessions, and parents with therapeutic consultations. I work face-to-face and also work online with parents and adolescents.  I am passionate about supporting the emotional & mental health of young people and assisting parents and teachers in this endeavour.

I have worked with children and adolescents for 17 years, first as a secondary school teacher and now as a therapist. I have supported children aged 4-18 from many different family and cultural backgrounds and in a variety of settings. Alongside my private practice I work as a family group therapist for ‘The School and Family Works’ and I facilitate an arts-based wellbeing group: ‘The Wellbeing Warriors’ in a Richmond primary school.

My work is informed by a number of theories and techniques including attachment theories, neurobiology and psychodynamic models. At the heart of my approach, however, is the value I place on the relationship between myself and the young person I am supporting.  I aim to provide a safe and empathic space for my clients to express their difficult feelings whilst I remain alongside as a guide.  My role here is to listen, to reflect, to open new perspectives and to offer an appropriate level of challenge.

Conversation in sessions can be verbal or (especially for younger children), can be expressed through the mediums of art and play: the natural language of children and a rich landscape for deep communication.
